Enjoying the Outdoors

Most of us spend huge amounts of our time indoors, whether it’s at work or trying to stay dry from the rain. Now that summer has arrived there really is no excuse for us not to be spending more time outdoors. When we spend time outdoors we give ourselves some time to slow down and embrace the beauty of nature around us – a feeling that nurtures the soul.

Nature offers a reliable boost to your mental and physical wellbeing. Stepping outside for a few minutes when you are feeling tense or stressed can help to reduce your stress levels. Taking a moment to breathe in some fresh air will help clear your mind of any worries. Fresh air can also help to improve concentration. The outdoors affords for more creativity and inspiration. Some of my greatest ideas have come to me whilst I have been enjoying the outdoors.

The outdoors encourages our bodies to move more. Walking helps to strengthen the heart and lungs and increases overall fitness. A short walk can help you to feel more alert and alive.

Spending time outdoors will also make you happier. You will experience a boost in mood, you will feel more relaxed, and it can help to improve your self-esteem.

On long summer evenings, I love walking my French bulldog, Hugo. Pets love the outdoors as much as we do. When I am out walking it gives me time to recuperate after a long day and it also helps me to sleep better. I was delighted when I received a package from Pawsomebox with toys that I could take on my walk, to play with Hugo.

Pawsomebox is a subscription service that allows subscribers to tailor the perfect box of treats for their dog. The subscription offers 6 products that are suited to your dog’s profile and are delivered to your doorstep once a month. Hugo received their July box. The package had a selection of toys that are ideal for outdoor fun this summer. These included squeaky tennis balls and a Vinyl trunk. They are the perfect toys for an energetic dog that loves to play fetch.

I was also really impressed by the dog bowl that came in the package. Similar to beer glasses with a liquid in the plastic, that you can freeze to keep your drink cool, we received the dog equivalent in the form of a dog bowl. This is perfect for hot summer days, to help keep your dog’s water cold. The package even had something for myself inside. It came with a lint roller, which is great for quickly removing pet hair from clothes. Pawsomebox have kindly provided me with a discount code to share with you (ukbx5uzv) which will give you £5 discount off your first box.

So whether it’s a brisk power walk on your way to work or a relaxing evening stroll with your dog, try to add more of the outdoors into your day.
